Field Sample Module Release: The primary focus of the second release is to replace the National Fuel Moisture Database (NFMD) with the Field Sample Module (FSM) within FEMS. This release will feature fuel moisture data entry and access. Succeeding updates will enable the user to edit sites and groups or to activate a site that is inactive. All legacy data in the NFMD has been migrated over to the FSM.
FEMS 2.0 may be accessed by both public (unauthenticated user) and government wildland fire personnel (authenticated users) alike.
Unauthenticated users can access FEMS without a login and access the full fuel moisture dataset. Authenticated users can access, enter, and edit data, and will be able to edit Group or Site information, according to their FSM role.
Members of the FEMS Development Team will be contacting the former Geographic Area NFMD leads to review permissions and assign roles in FSM. Training for Area, Group, and Site roles is in development. Until trainings has been completed, user roles in FEMS which are needed to input data, will not be available.
